hey, I'm JULIEN
After going back to college in the US because my French college degree was not recognized, I started a corporate job as a Business Analyst. This is where the American Dream was not such a dream anymore for me. For sure, I learned a lot from my employment in corporate America, but I wasn't happy. There was something missing... something that wasn't me.
I came to the US as an Au Pair on August 2009. My goal was to stay a couple years, learn English, discover a new culture, and see if America was what I had been seeing in movies.
Not long after I arrived, I met a girl who is now my wife. This is why after 12 years of my "2 years to learn English trip"... I am still here!
After my first paycheck, I purchased a camera. I had no idea that this purchase would take me on an incredible journey. The reason I had bought it is because I was about to visit a National Park and I wanted to take some awesome photos, just like what my grandpa did when he was traveling.
Needless to say... I was very disappointed and bummed out when I saw the result. It made realize that having a "fancy camera" does not mean my photos will turn out nice - I had to learn how to use it and understand how light works.
THEN I GOT MY FIRST CAMERA...
Another one of my passions is Landscape Photography. If you follow me on Instagram you will see that I sometimes post some of my favorite work. I am not going to lie... I believe Ingrid (my wife) wishes this wasn't a passion of mine because I make us wake up multiple times at the crack of dawn to go capture a sunrise.
AND NOW I EVEN TEACH PHOTOGRAPHY!
But instead of giving up, I started to research and learn from Youtube videos. After a few years of practice as well as taking lessons with mentors, I started to photograph friends and family.
A lot of my paychecks from my corporate job went into gear and lessons to always learn more and improve my art.
That was the exact moment it all changed for me. I had to work very hard to understand...
Also, let's be honest... I do love some high adrenaline kind of stuff.
I have been skydiving as you can see with the picture above, in an acrobatic plane doing loopings, barrels, etc. in the sky, and one of my checklist dream is to go shark diving in South Africa one day.
If you are looking for me when I don't work, you will probably find me traveling somewhere where there are mountains, or watching a TV show on Netflix.
I also really enjoy running with my other favorite girl - Whiskey.
Whiskey is my pup and she's a Belgian Tervuren. I just love dogs and other animals. You can ask Ingrid, my wife about what kind of animals I've rescued in the past years... baby squirrels, baby turtles, cats, birds... you name it!
I hope this about me and pictures helped you knowing me a bit better. I can't wait to talk with you and capture your portraits so you can share your passion and stories with your loved ones!
